How I am Building the Home Page, Part 2

How I am Building the Home Page, Part 2

Published on: 01/31/2026, 04:53 PM by Software Developer

So my design idea was just showcase CMSbyCW as is.

And I left "Developer Notes" on test posts, test page, what specific module I was working on. and some glitches I bump into.

And then the other things that went into the total consideration of WHY it was built, the HOW it was built (I doubt many people would be tenacious to be working 16 hour days every single day for 4 months, non-stop), but that is how most Project Management work, you calculate actual hours needed when you are building something, I was a Project Manager for a lot of tech projects.  .

And it is not for any non-developer to dictate how long a software developer can build a software, from scratch.

Instead of saying I can't, I always ask "How can I?"

And I did.

So now I am in the Home Page area where I should be showcasing my work.

And for whatever it is worth, I started typing, coding testing ideas....

... calculate actual manpower hours it took for me to complete version 7.

... calculate how much labor cost that type of work took for a full stack developer.

It's just for context..

I blogged about  a software module that I worked on for about 8 months.  Then I donated it.  (If I did then, what I did now, I would NOT have donated my source codes, since the recipients ended up selling the software - the only reason I donated my source codes was because they were open-source).

Anyway, I wrote a post HERE on who this CMS is for.  Or I'll just copy the specific paragraphs I can use for the Features Columns ...

Product Evolution

CW Simple Site was my first package: fully static HTML, pulling header and footer files, reliable, portable, and immune to hosting mishaps. Over time, it evolved into CMSbyCW, a simple but expandable CMS with blogging, login, search, comments, contact forms, audio/video playlists, and even a share widget I built over 10 years ago — all still working!

This shows the evolution from a stable static site to a flexible, lightweight CMS with the bells and whistles you need, without the risks of database corruption or plugin conflicts.

“What Survives Hosting Disasters?”

Your site survives because CW Simple Site keeps everything under your control.

Calm Trust Statement About Updates & Licensing

Both CW Simple Site and CMSbyCW are designed so your work is safe: no core updates or plugins overwrite your content, and licensing unlocks features based on the domains you control. Expirations and renewals are handled gracefully without breaking your site.

Updates and licenses work for you — not against you.

A Blessing in Disguise

What started as a hosting disaster became a freeing opportunity. By removing database dependencies, plugins, and update risks, CW Simple Site and CMSbyCW will run smoothly .. it's like future-proofing it. Now, instead of being tied to unreliable hosts or unpredictable updates, you get full control, stability, and peace of mind — and the same system can be packaged for others who want a reliable, lightweight CMS.

Why CW Simple Site / CMSbyCW?

----------------

When I wrote this post several weeks ago, I thought I'd package CMSbyCW and CW Simple Site together, but when I was creating the Full Blueprint, it was about 220+ pages already, including other software like Software Licensing that I also just finished.

In Software Developement, writing technical documentation is necessary while my tech design ideas are still fresh in my mind.  As I was documenting the final "files" in the software package, I thought, "I created this  and I am getting overwhelmed, how about a new user?"

So I went back to the drawing board and created a separate document just for the CMSbyCW Software.

Then on the Documentation, I decided to just merge the docs in the docs area, and the main blog area.  So it's easier to update. And will be a work in progress.
