This is another feature of CMSbyCW.
Like in everything else about this software, it was created out of necessity.
And then some.
After I built the core modules of the software, (Blog, Pages, Login), I worked on the Search functionality. I only wanted the Search functionality to do it in blog Posts, not Pages. (because you don't want to do that, you don't want the search to be crawling login pages or other sensitive areas of your website).
Then I noticed the exact URL of web posts. Some were long links.
I tried to "prettify" it. with NEW codes, affecting everything else in the core fiiles. And destroyed the search functionality. So I removed the "prettify" codes because it "uglified" me. (I also left comment notes on the raw files, so if there's other developers would try to take a stab at trying to incorporate it, it's a warning that it will BREAK a lot of other things in the software package, so don't do it).
It broke the entire version 1.0 of the CMS!
And then after about two weeks of rebuilding again from scratch, I just thought I'd do the "link shortener" module instead.
What I ended up building within the shortener module, it is programmed as a link shortener for the CMS long links, but also all other types of long links (or other links), that you would want to create shortlinks to.
An example would be the functionality Am azon does for long links to their products, consisting of many slugs and other characters, risking breaking those characters, so the option to create shortlinks.
So shortlinks, it is. Also on this CMS. Optional to use, but I thought would be a good feature to have.
The "Manage Link Shorteners" in the CMSbyCW Dashboard can shorten long links from YOUR website, but also to OTHER websites.
You can test it. :-)
I built the Link Shortener Panel also so that it is easier to Manage in the Dashboard (Create, Edit, or Delete). I also tested it to be responsive.
I wanted this CMS to be manageable also, even on mobile devices.
I will improve on this post, as I build on the rest of the Tutorials / FAQs / Documentation module.
A placeholder for developer thoughts. :-)
